If you are an adult piano learner at any level, absolute beginner or seasoned musician, Kymberly will help you improve or just begin. During the pandemic, my wife and I decided to learn piano. We began at different levels of musical experience and understanding. As a result, our needs as piano students are completely different. Kymberly is a patient professional working and coordinating instruction to both sets of our abilities.
Kymberly’s depth and experience as a seasoned professional musician and instructor is outstanding. She always has multiple ideas for improving of skills, from the basics like how to structure practice sessions to breaking down rhythms, to learning notes and onwards. Kymberly is completely accommodating; during the beginning of our lessons we conducted our lessons via zoom. We are amazed at the level of detail that Kymberly was able to observe, hear, see, and intuit especially remotely. After a year on-line, we ventured to her studio. The grace and care she is able to demonstrate in person surpasses our expectations.
Here we are many months later and we each confidently sit down and play some songs, my favorite part of lessons is playing a duet with Kymberly weekly. It is just dynamite. A little performance pressure to improve and it really sounds like music. From no expectations to real progress and now reading some music, understanding key signatures, playing, laughing and smiling a lot. Thanks to Kymberly’s coaching, shaping and nudging, we are both progressing well with learning the piano and most importantly enjoying the experiences.

Over the span of a year, I routinely sat in on my daughter’s weekly lessons with Kymberly, and so I can speak with some authority on her approach and qualities as a teacher. Kymberly was highly effective at engaging our daughter and encouraging her active participation. She successfully led her to think about technique and interpretation and was always careful to affirm her insights and efforts. She set appropriate goals and offered plentiful encouragement, thereby building confidence and firing up my daughter’s motivation. Invaluable to me as a parent were Kymberly’s written summaries of what was to be practiced in the week between lessons. My kids have been taking lessons from Kymberly for a few years now. Their progress was evident the very first lesson, and continues to exceed my expectations. What I like best is that her students get to choose the music they like, which makes them even more excited to learn. She always provides opportunities to expand their learning through music festivals, community theory tests and composition competitions. These events strengthen their performance skills in front of judges and audiences, but are totally optional. She also makes it fun by hosting group classes and holiday parties, which gives the kids a refreshing change of pace.

Kymberly is an AMAZING piano/organ teacher who absolutely loves what she does! She is always patient, organized, naturally connected to her students and knows how to engage them in learning and practice. My son has been learning playing organ with Kymberly the past four years. What impressed me most is that instead of simply handing out a weekly practice assignment at the end of each lesson, she always involves him in making the practice plan for the following week.
